Oakland, KY (April 24, 2019)- On Wednesday evening, at 6:28 PM, the Kentucky State Police Post 3, Bowling Green received a call for service in reference to a two vehicle injury collision. The collision had occurred on Bethel Ln, involving two passenger vehicles. Post 3 Troopers responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that Jacob Sweeney (31) of Bowling Green, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu while traveling eastbound on Bethel Ln. Sweeney’s vehicle crossed into the travel lane of Kelley Long (24) also of Bowling Green, who was operating a 2015 Infiniti traveling westbound. The two vehicles collided in a head-on manner near the 700 block of Bethel Ln.
Sweeney was transported from the scene and taken to Tristar Skyline Medical Center Hospital in Nashville for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. He is currently listed in stable condition. Long was transported by EMS to the Medical Center at Bowling Green for treatment of minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Senior Trooper Bartley Weaver. He was assisted on the scene by Post 3 troopers, Medical Center EMS, Air Evac, Gott Volunteer Fire Department and Bowling Green Fire Department.
