Spicing up jail time, unacceptable

GLASGOW, Ky. — On Saturday, Glasgow Police charged an inmate for allegedly having drugs on him at the Barren County Detention Center.

Police responded to the jail for a complaint that current inmate, 22 yr. old Devonja Sweat of Nashville, had Spice, synthetic marijuana, in his possession.

Jail records show Sweat was in the detention center on charges of murder, burglary 1st degree, and tampering with physical evidence. Allegedly, he was involved with two others in the death of KeShawn Sarver, which had happened on Dec. 28 in his Cave City apartment. He has plead not guilty in the murder case pending in Barren Circuit Court.

Now, he has also been charged with possession of synthetic drugs, promoting contraband and possession of drug paraphernalia.
