On January 27, 2019, Sheriff Jeff Wilson responded to Tommy Toms Road on a report of an individual possible under the influence of a controlled substance. Upon arrival, Sheriff Wilson made contact with James K. Ballard, age 34, walking down the road acting erratically. After completion of the investigation, Ballard was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that included a hypodermic syringe. Ballard was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess and Public Intoxication of a Controlled Substance and was lodged in the Hart County Jail.
